You will be asked the first or second question about your career when you meet some of your friends or relative. It keeps you conscious about your choice and planning of career. Probably you may feel it awkward to take opinion or suggestions from them about your career.

Your family or friend’s advice or opinions greatly influences your thinking routes of career planning. To make best choice exactly meeting your interests, you must consider the following tips:

  1. First make the self-analysis and figure out your natural capabilities, what skills you have and where you can make the best utilization of these abilities. It will show you a fuzzy but valuable rout to start from. Don’t go with a choice of career just because your friend or cousin is successful with it, but be your own consultant first.
  2. Set your own goals that are achievable, realistic and short-term for your career. Such choice will have more possibility of approval from your family if they put the decision on you.
  3. Be natural in your choice and decision making about career. Do not consider any mental pressure from family or friends that makes you uncomfortable, either it is positive or negative.
  4. Take the expectations lightly while choosing your first career. You need to be open-minded and unprejudiced if you want a real success. Expectations may also be a form of pressure from your family or friends which needs to be lower down.
  5. When you have chosen a career, be confident and satisfied with it. When you have decided, your family and friends may have some conflictions but they will approve it if they see your confidence and passion. It’s good to take their advice, but if it makes you confused or uncomfortable, you have another option of self-analysis which will keep you “on track”.
  6. Be well-prepared with your choice and make an appropriate plan how you are going to handle the family and friend’s concern with your career choice.
