Cover letters allow you to express the things and points in your own words that you can not mention directly in your resume. It is not a good practice to rush through the cover letter without analyzing and considering the real message. A strong cover letter reflects your ability to write cohesively and effectively which contains a significant importance in a job. Missing cover letter with a resume may represent you a lazy or un-skilled writer and it expresses the importance of cover letters best.

Cover letter contains the following structure:

  • Mention your name and contact on the top right, name and address of employer on left below the earlier and then date.
  • Take the first paragraph to state what vacancy you are applying for, how you got to know about the job and why you want to avail this opportunity.
  • State the job specification you read and how it relates to your abilities and role in accordance with your qualification.
  • Take the second paragraph to state clearly and concisely why you want to avail that specific opportunity for career. Explain how you can accept the challenging duties of that ole and what you can do to accomplish it. You can also state here the reason of changing your job.
  • Make a pleasant closing with soft words with a hope to be called for interview.

Proofread your cover letter before you close it. Make sure that you have enclosed the resume with your cover letter with all necessary documents and your contact detail has been mentioned accurately.
